23/08/07 Heavy rain during the night

We had heavy rain 2 nights ago - quite surprising for August and you get used to leaving things outside unprotected from the wet.
We had a half tonne bale of alfa alfa which use as horse feed uncovered so that meant going out at 1.30 in the morning to cover it up. It was only light rain at the time but it came on much heavier later on, totaling about an inch and a quarter or 30 Litres per sq Metre to use the metric measure. Always find that a bit of a mouthful but 30 L/M² is equivalent to 30 mm of rain.

The rain will have been very beneficial and will save us some time watering the garden.
