08/09/07 Planting Brassicas and Onions
I hadn't planned to plant either just yet. I thought the middle of October would be fine for buying some onion plants to give an early crop next year, while the broccoli seedlings will not big enough to plant out until the end of September, when it will be cooler.
But then we were in our favourite garden centre/nursery, looking for something as a housewarming present for a friend, and noticed they had some very good looking cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and onions, so I couldn't resist.
We haven't always grown cauliflower (if they do well you find you have a whole row that are ready to pick at the same time) and havn't grown cabbage in Spain before (I prefer to grow things like broccoli where you can pick little and often, over a period of time).
It is still quite hot during the day and the new plants look to be struggling a bit but will hopefully be ok.
