17/09/07 Cucumbers out - peas in
The cucumbers have finished so we have removed them. They had done well - just 5 plants have given us more than enough for the last couple of months.
Growing these (and most of our crops) on ridges means that you don't have to walk on the soil the plants are growing in, you can make a point of always walking in the trench. Consequently, when the old cucumber plants were pulled out, the soil was in very good condition to immediately sow peas.
We haven't sown peas at this time of year before so we shall see how they get on. Peas don't like it too hot so if you sow them in the spring, you need to sow them early so they crop before the heat of the summer.
