25/05/09 Time to Keep the Dogs in at Evening Time
It is now, as the the temperatures are rising, time to be more wary of the sandflies that carry the dreadful leishmanosis.
Our vet advises us to keep the dogs indoors during the hours of darkness, once nightime temperatures reach 20 deg C (though I have heard others say the risk starts at 18 deg).
The sandlfies apparently hide away during the day, emerging at dusk, and becoming most prevalent around 2 to 4 in the morning.
