20/11/09 Still Watering the Garden
Heading towards the end of November and the vegetable garden still requires a surprising amount of water.
We had some useful rain about two months ago but nothing to speak of since then. As a result we are having to water the broad beans and broccoli (which are all looking well) at least once a week.
The need for water has been demonstrated clearly in the beans where one corner of the patch was not getting so much due to that part of the garden not being quite level. Although the beans had germinated in that corner at the same time as the others, plants have only grown to half the height.
Basically, the country side could do with a lot more rain - this being the time of year when we normally get it.
