17/03/10 End of Another Years Carrots

The carrots have just come to an end. Not the best of crops this year but sweet carrots are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow.

We recently needed a large number of carrots to make carrot soup for a group of people. As there weren't many left in the garden, we bought some carrots in the supermarket. I couldn't believe how awful they tasted.

So we bought some more from other sources including the local market and carrots with their tops still on. None had anything like the sweet flavour we always get from our own grown carrots.
